Dreame L40 Ultra Gen 2 Robot Vacuum and Mop Review: 25,000Pa Suction and a Self-Cleaning Dock
A robot vacuum that also mops can take two chores off your list. The Dreame L40 Ultra Gen 2 pairs a 25,000Pa vacuum with spinning mop pads and an all-in-one dock that handles much of the upkeep. Here is a plain walkthrough of what the listing says about it, and what to check before you order.
Suction power
The listing puts the suction at 25,000Pa and offers five suction levels, so you can match the power to the mess. It says the robot works on both hard floors and carpets. The listing images show it clearing hair, paper scraps, and cat litter. The pickup percentages on those images come from the brand’s own lab data, so read them as the maker’s claims.
Reaching corners and edges
Many robot vacuums leave corners untouched. This one extends its side brush and its mop outward to get into corners and under furniture, which the listing calls a deeper clean where most vacuums fall short. One listing image marks the mop reach along an edge at about 1.5 inches.
The all-in-one dock
The dock is the main selling point. According to the listing, it keeps the machine running with less hands-on work from you. The listing images show it washing the mop pads, refilling the water box, emptying the dustbin, and drying the pads with hot air. One image points to up to 100 days between dock emptying, again based on the brand’s lab data.
Mopping with DuoScrub
The mopping system uses two spinning pads, which Dreame calls DuoScrub. A listing image also shows 32 levels of moisture control, so the water amount can change with the floor. The listing lists wood, marble, and tile as recommended surfaces.
Mop washing and drying
After a mopping run, the dock rinses the pads and dries them with warm air, based on the listing images. The brand cites a 99 percent mop stain removal figure on those images, which, once more, is lab data from the maker.
Carpet care
The listing describes four carpet modes: carpet avoidance, suction boost, intensive carpet cleaning, and mop lifting of 0.41 inches (10.5mm). That gives you a few ways to keep the mop pads off rugs, or to give a rug extra attention.
Navigation and obstacle avoidance
The robot maps your home and steers around items such as shoes, using what the listing calls Smart Pathfinder and 3DAdapt technologies. The listing images also mention quick mapping, a 3D map display, multi-level mapping, and no-go zone setting.
Pets and busy homes
The listing says pet zones can stay clean with less manual effort. Its images show a pet zone cleaning setting, noise reduction, and a child lock. If you are also thinking about the air inside your home, we reviewed the Levoit Core 300 Air Purifier (2 Pack). And if you would rather compare a traditional vacuum for pet messes, take a look at our Shark NV752 Rotator Powered Lift-Away TruePet Vacuum review.
Battery, app, and voice control
A 5,200mAh battery gives up to 231 minutes and 1,679 square feet of cleaning in Quiet mode, according to the listing. It also supports faster charging and off-peak charging. You can run it from the app or with Alexa, Siri, and Google Home. Setup uses 2.4GHz Wi-Fi only, and the listing says it is for USA use only.
