Instant Pot Duo 6 Qt 7-in-1 Electric Pressure Cooker Review: One Pot, Many Meals
If you want one appliance that can stand in for several pots, the Instant Pot Duo 6 Qt is a name that comes up often. This post walks through what the Amazon listing says about it, so you can decide whether it fits your kitchen and your cooking habits.
Quick Look
- Capacity: 5.68 liters (6 quart)
- Material and finish: stainless steel
- Power: 1000 watts
- Controls: touch, programmable, automatic operation
- Size: 12.2″ deep x 13.38″ wide x 12.48″ high
- Weight: 14.6 pounds
Seven Appliances in One
The name says 7-in-1, and the listing spells it out: pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice cooker, yogurt maker, steamer, sauté pan and food warmer. That is a lot of counter and cabinet space you may be able to free up. The listing also states that cooking is PFOA and PTFE free.
13 Smart Programs, One Touch Each
The control panel has 13 customizable Smart Programs. They cover things like ribs, soups, beans, rice, poultry, yogurt and desserts. Instead of guessing times and settings, you pick the program that matches your food and adjust it if you like. The touch controls keep the panel simple to read.
Cook Fast or Cook Slow
Pressure cooking is the main draw. The listing says one-pot meals can be ready up to 70% faster than with traditional cooking methods. On busy evenings, that matters. When you have more time, the slow cook mode lets you make the kind of dishes that simmer for hours.

Safety Features Built In
A pressure cooker needs to feel safe, and the listing points to more than 10 safety features. These include overheat protection and a safe-locking lid. The lid also has an easy-release switch, which is meant to make quick pressure release simple.
Easy Cleanup
The stainless steel sides resist fingerprints, so the outside should stay neat. The lid, inner pot and accessories are all dishwasher safe. The inner pot is made of food-grade stainless steel with a tri-ply bottom, which the listing says gives more even cooking and works well for sautéing.
Size and Counter Space
This 6 quart model is described as good for cooking for up to 6 people. That makes it a fit for growing families, and also for single people who like to meal prep or cook in batches. At 14.6 pounds, it is not a pot you will want to move around every day, so plan a spot for it. The power cord is permanently attached to the base and cannot be removed.
Free Recipe App
Instant Pot offers a free app for iOS and Android. It is meant to help you find quick new recipes and plan meals, which is handy if you are new to pressure cooking and not sure where to start.
Who It’s For
This cooker suits people who want one pot for soups, rice, beans, yogurt and weeknight dinners. Families that cook for several people will find the size practical. If you only cook for one now and then, check the dimensions first, because it takes up real space. It also helps to think about how you cook. If you often make rice, beans, soups or yogurt, several of the built-in programs will get regular use, and that is where a multi-cooker earns its place in a busy kitchen.
Final Thoughts
The Instant Pot Duo 6 Qt brings seven cooking methods into one stainless steel pot, with 13 Smart Programs, over 10 safety features and dishwasher-safe parts. It looks like a practical choice for anyone who wants faster meals and fewer pots to wash.
